Stearns County Reports 113 New Cases, 1 More Death from COVID-19

Los Angeles County health officials reported 953 new coronavirus cases Saturday and 10 related deaths, as the rate of the virus' spread in the region continues to rise. Sunday's count is the ninth time the state has reached over 400 daily cases since the pandemic started, and the eighth time the state has crossed that benchmark this month.

In the USA, more than 8 million cases have been reported and more than 219,000 people have died as of Sunday, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

Doña Ana County came in second highest with 68 new cases.

"To slow community spread of COVID-19 in our county we must all partner together; businesses and residents must do their part and adopt the infection control measures that we know to be effective", she said in a statement.

Luna County, just west of Doña Ana County, added 32 new cases. The county reported 116 cases the week of October 5 and 121 cases the week of September 28.

Three Douglas County residents are being cared for in local facilities, one is being cared for outside of the county, and one non-county resident is also being hospitalized locally.

New Mexico now has a total of 36,788 COVID-19 cases, with 19,894 recoveries, according to the Governor's Office.

Since last Sunday, the Oregon Health Authority has reported 2,450 new positive and presumptive cases of the coronavirus - an average of 350 per day - as well as 21 deaths in the past five days.
