Man suspected in sex assault case barricaded inside Paramount Pictures lot

NBC confirmed a "police shooting" had occurred at Paramount Studios on Sunday night, according to the LAPD.

A Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) ambulance was filmed leaving the studio, but the lack of police escort caused many to speculate that the suspect was not inside or had already been killed.

American media outlets are reporting having heard over scanners an "officer involved shooting" had taken place. It's not clear if anyone was shot during the gunfire.

Reports indicate that the suspect in a sexual assault case has barricaded himself in a building at the Paramount Studios lot in Hollywood.

LAPD HQ tweeted that police were first in the area of Plymouth and Melrose, near the Paramount Pictures lot, around 10 arrest a sexual assault suspect, but when they attempted to detain the man, he produced a knife and used a Tayser.

The man was under surveillance by Fullerton police investigators, who tried to arrest him in Los Angeles, said Fullerton Police Cpl. The man entered the studio lot about 10pm, local time. In response to eyewitnesses, some 20 police vehicles had been on the scene.

LAPD's Hollywood Division requested the general public to keep away from the world of Melrose Avenue and Gower Road on account of police exercise.

Reporters shared vision of police helicopters circling the area, and a large police presence in the area.
