Japanese technology giant Sony introduced its new screen, Spatial Reality Display, which will easily replace 3D TVs.

The SR displays enable creators in various industries from automotive and industrial design to computer graphics (CG) and visual effects (VFX), as well as those in movies, to realize their creativity in stunning 3D displays. It was called the "eye-sensing light field display".

"We're excited to bring the world's best technology to bear, moving the design and creation industry forward, particularly as the shift to digital has become so pronounced", states Mike Fasulo, president and chief operating officer of Sony Electronics North America. 3D models and environments can be previewed in volumetric and realistic ways, enabling creators to adjust lighting, test object positioning, and check camera blocking ahead of finalizing scenes.

The SR Display requires a PC with at least an Intel Core i7 CPU and NVIDIA's RTX 2070 Super GPU. This allows the stereoscopic image to appear as smooth as real life, even if the viewer moves around.

The SR screen comes in 15.6-inch LCD panels and 4K resolution, as the screen includes a high-speed vision sensor, to support fast eye movement tracking, and the position of the eye when moving around the screen. This lens divides the image into the left and right eyes allowing for stereoscopic viewing with just the naked eye.

Sony shared a couple of testimonials in a press release about the debut of the SR Display.

According to Sony, the SR Display creates a 3D optical experience without the need for glasses or a headset through its use of its High-Speed Vision Sensor, as well as its Real-Time Rendering Algorithm and Micro Optical Lens technologies. Another suggested use of the Spatial Reality Display will be in auto dealerships, enabling customers to examine realistic customized auto models without needing to actually see the vehicles in person.

Showing how professionals can use the Spatial Reality Display in film production, Sony Electronics collaborated with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Columbia Pictures subsidiary Ghost Corps for the upcoming 2021 movie "Ghostbuster: Afterlife".

It is worth mentioning that the SR Display uses top-level real-time rendering algorithms. You can check through the full specs of the Sony SR Display here. "The display offers a new approach to visualizing concepts and characters, making understanding the finished product that much easier". Sony's new screen technology, which is very useful, will be available next month.

Recall that the screen SR from Sony can provide good support for designers and professionals from creators, auto designers, or visual effects, and it is expected that the screen will be launched at a price of approximately $ 5,000, to be available at Sony's website and retail stores in November.
