The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that all football activities will be conducted remotely on Saturday after a practice squad member tested positive for COVID-19.

The Patriots have already lost their bye week, moving it from Week 6 to Week 5 to accommodate the Broncos game. There was no word on any Saturday testing.

"Early this morning, we learned that running backs coach Curtis Modkins tested positive for COVID-19", the team said in a statement.

"Curtis is now at home in self-isolation and experiencing no symptoms". He was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday.

Newton and Gilmore, the reigning defensive player of the year, returned to practice this week for the first time since testing positive for the virus.

The Patriots incurred their latest COVID-19 scare Friday upon discovering one positive test plus a second one that required confirmation. The player was quarantined, and the team is reviewing contact tracing data to determine what further precautions need to be taken.

Jacksonville's game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday still is scheduled to be played. It could benefit the team that it typically separates practice-squad players from those on the 53-man roster, creating an extra level of protection to help prevent an outbreak. The New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans have done it, and now one AFC South team is being forced to do it on Saturday.

The Colts had four positive tests that came up negative upon retesting.

I was briefly encouraged this morning when Bullets featured nuggets about the Falcons and Colts returning to their respective facilities after their recent battles with COVID-19 cases.

In addition, 12 players from the Jaguars practice squad were placed onto the Covid reserve list after one tested positive, prompting the closing of the team training facility.

Newton and Gilmore participated in Thursday's practice and appeared to be on track to play against the Broncos on Sunday.

-The Panthers have guard/centre Tyler Larsen on the reserve/COVID-19 list, five days after he played against Atlanta. The team had closed the building Thursday following a second positive test for COVID-19.

The Patriots placed offensive lineman James Ferentz on its covid-19 reserve list.

Defensive tackle Byron Cowart was the only Patriots player now still on the list after testing positive on October 11. That necessitated other schedule changes because the Broncos originally had been scheduled to play the Miami Dolphins this Sunday.
