Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has broken his duck for Napoli in their 4-1 victory over Atalanta in Serie A.

"End Police Brutality in Nigeria", was hand-written on a white t-shirt held up by the attacker after he netted the fourth goal in a 4-1 Serie A win over Atalanta in Naples.

Romero partially made amends by setting up Atalanta's consolation for substitute Sam Lammers in the 69th minute.

Matteo Politano added a third in the 30th minute before Osimhen chose to include his name on the score sheet.

The 21-year-old also tweeted after the game, "Having accomplished all I thought was impossible for me through GOD, now I know better, time for some limitless goals and desire". Although he scored in two of Napoli's pre-season games, he was yet to open his competitive account before today.

"I'm happy for Chucky's brace, but Osimhen's goal makes me happy because he hadn't scored so far and he deserved it for the hard work done for the team", Gattuso told the club website. "It wasn't easy but we have bought a player who is very important to us".

Saturday's win pushed Napoli to third on the Serie A table with eight points after four games, although on the pitch they boast a flawless record of three wins in three.

Napoli resumes Seria A action after the global break in which period they were handed a 3-0 defeat and had one point deducted for failing to turn up for their Serie A match away to Juventus earlier this month amid confusion over Italian soccer's coronavirus rules.
