MI reports 1,791 additional cases of COVID-19, 23 deaths

Eleven of the 15 deaths were found later in a regular records reviews to see if COVID-19 contributed to one's passing.

The state has reported 330 probable COVID-19 deaths and 16,013 probable cases.

In the USA, there are 8,090,241 cases, and there have been 219,047 deaths - while 3,197,539 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. In the county, 37 lives have been lost to the virus.

MI had 89 new cases per 1 million people per day, up from 81.6 cases last week, the health department said.

MI has a fatality rate of 4.9% among known cases. Lapeer County also saw the biggest one-week jump in cases - almost 70 between Monday and today. The MDHHS reports updates Monday-Saturday.

Each of the two preceding days saw the state report more than 2,000 new cases. In addition, the Sunday edition includes tips and information to keep well this autumn and winter, both physically and emotionally, during COVID-19.
