Inter captain Samir Handanovic has now saved the most penalties in Serie A history, according to a report from Italian media outlet FcInterNews yesterday.

Romelu Lukaku pulled one back for Inter before the half-hour mark and was denied a penalty in the second half.

The 39-year-old had missed four games and not played for nearly a month after contracting COVID-19, but he put Stefano Pioli's men two goals up inside 16 minutes on Saturday.

Milan started the game in a strong way, especially through Ibrahimovic, who managed to get a penalty kick in the 13th minute after a tackle by Kolarov, and Ibra saved the kick, but Handanovic blocked it before the Swedish giant completed it in the net.

Inter forward Lukaku then turned home Ivan Perisic's low delivery and nearly levelled before the break when his header dropped narrowly wide from a corner.

Lukaku's first-half strike was the first goal AC Milan have conceded in the league this season and they continue to be Italy's form team, despite not having won a major trophy since 2011.

Milan have won all four games so far and lead the standings with 12 points, while Inter have seven after their first defeat of the season.
