Career-defining moment for Teofimo Lopez

Lomachenko is widely regarded as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the sport, while Lopez is an undefeated power puncher eager to make himself a household name. The Lomasenko-Lopez hustle was built even then. And, he's clearly, been in with better competition than the younger Lopez. But he was calling Luchenko. "For the fans? I think it will be a very historical fight".

Lopez, meanwhile, has had a lengthy absence of his own after winning the IBF title against Richard Commey in December past year. Now, 10 months later, the fight is on.

The fight to unify all four lightweight belts will air on ESPN and ESPN+ at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Loma-Lopez was supposed to happen in the spring, although it was not formally signed before the COVID-19 pandemic forced the sport to close from mid-March to mid-June. There were issues in the negotiations, but not so important now.

"We'll see what he's got, we always come prepared".

From a fan's point of view, this is probably the most anticipated fight of 2020. It may not gain mainstream general acceptance in a fight like Wilder-Fury 2 in February, but it also won't be underpaid. It won't be an easy fight. This is a big fight, and it has some casual / major appeals.

It's also just an easy sale as an attraction. I just wanted to fight the best fighters. At only 23 years old he is already world champion and wants to win all the belts against Lomachenko. Vasiliy Lomachenko fights Teofimo Lopez on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, in Las Vegas. Jose Luis Ramirez wasn't a superstar, but he had a 25-3 professional record and was coming out of a decent win over Rey Bautista.

Lopez comes off his two round destruction of Richard Commey last December to capture the IBF belt and catapult him in front of Lomachenko. He had a chance to face veteran veteran Orlando Salido in March 2014. And, the significance is not lost on the fighters.

Salido gave Machenko some valuable lessons in that battle.

Gamache previously worked in Lomachenko's camp. Lomachenko hung on to the fight and made some changes, but he still abandoned a fair split decision. Since then, nearly every fight has been about Lomachenko. He dominated so badly at the age of 126 that he had to go as far as 130 to find good fights. He did the same at that weight, and in 2018 he moved up to 135. Lomachenko also has just 15 fights (14-1, 10 knockouts) but has been facing top caliber fighters since turning pro after winning his second gold medal in the 2012 Olympics in London.

"I mean, hey, that's what it takes to go from a good fighter to a great, all-time fighter", Lopez said. Diffimo Lopez has some advantages over paper. There are comparisons with the 2013 fight that took Floyd Mayweather Canelo Alvarez, and while Lopez openly denies it, this is not an unreasonable thought.

Mayweather was 36 when he fought 23-year-old Canelo. Floyd was unbeaten 44-0, but he was battling a talented, strong youngster who was naturally big in body.

"I'm a big 135-pounder so I always stay in shape, always stay in shape".

Although the fight returned to Mayweather's majority decision, it was a clear win for Floyd.

"I've heard this from a lot of boxers, that they're going to hit me or take me out", Lomachenko continued. Alvarez and his team made a very different decision to try Mayweather, which apparently didn't work and was never going to work.

If Lopez tries to think or manipulate Lobasenko outside, it is a very bad idea.
