I hate to join the fans who constantly whine about the treatment of Castiel (Misha Collins) on The CW's Supernatural, but with only five episodes left after season 15 episode 15, "Gimme Shelter", you'd think they'd give the guy the respect he deserves. Dean shows Sam a news article about power going out in Atlantic City; nothing wrong with the grid, no storms, which they believe might be due to Amara. Amyn Kaderali directed the episode written by Meghan Fitzmartin (#1516).

Tonight's episode is going to be great and you won't want to miss it, so be sure to tune in for our Supernatural recap between 8 PM - 9 PM ET! Suddenly, he is strangled by an unseen force.

Overall, this was an okay episode that would have been better if only Jack and Castiel were in it. Sam was, by and large, meaningless here, while Dean's whole angry man thing has lost its charm. Dean thinks he may have found Amara in Atlantic City.

Cas and Jack arrive, as Agent Swift and Agent Lovato, with Jack pulling the classic move of showing his Federal Bureau of Investigation badge upside down. A video from a camera across the street showed someone in a mask attacking the boy, and Jack points out, "It's nearly demonic". He offers his services, sharing that he is bored.

Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are asked to investigate the murder of a childhood friend, calling them back to a motel from their past and perplexing the brothers with a case they thought was solved a long time ago. Earlier, a conversation between them had revealed that the brothers have chose to dupe Amara and then kill her so that Chuck's death can be balanced out. He asks about joining as he looks into Conner's case. Her victim: a member of a faith group led by a pastor played by Steve Bacic, the same actor who made Dr. Meanwhile, Valerie is being tortured. She cries to him about Conner. They were close before. He also shares that no one has been making any deals, either. Jack bonds with Joe's daughter Sylvia, who is distraught at the death of her ex-boyfriend, the victim at the beginning of the episode.

While pumping gas, Amara approaches Sam and Dean, shocking them. Dean tells Amara they want to talk, as Amara says, "First, lunch".

Her torture is then broadcast in the community center, with Valerie already having had three fingers severed. They need her help. She doesn't want to hurt her brother. They came together as creation and destruction, light and dark.

Sam and Dean head to leave but Dean has one more question for Amara. Amara admits she'd resurrected Mary to show Dean that his mother wasn't ideal as he'd thought and hoped that seeing this would make him realize that his fantasy wasn't worth holding on to. He's okay with dying because he thinks this is the only way Dean and Sam will forgive him for killing Mary. They are all living in Chuck's world and it's rigged. Dean tells Amara angrily that she's just, "another cosmic dick", like her brother. She runs off. The pastor and the church people come out. In spite of everything, the pastor vows to find help for his daughter. She has a knife. She threatens her dad before stabbing Jack. Cas arrives, disarming Sylvia and putting her to sleep. He then goes over to Valerie, before ripping off the restraints and healing her hands, as he sends Jack off to get the police. Valerie and the pastor wonder what Cas is. Cas shakes his head, saying he watched Jack die once and he refuses to do it again, but Jack tells him it's not his choice. He tells Cas Billie's spell has been turning him into some kind of bomb, and when he "goes off" God and Amara will cease to exist and he won't survive.

UPDATE: We now have some photos - and those pictures confirm that Christian Michael Cooper will be playing Young Sam and Paxton Singleton is Young Dean. Cas refuses to see him die again.

Cas and Jack arrive home. The Pastor finds out Cas is an Angel, to which Cas replies, "Not a very good one". Dean doesn't understand. Cas explains that he might not return so there is something he needs to tell him.
