French World Cup victor Paul Pogba looks to be staying at Old Trafford despite interest from Real Madrid, as Manchester United triggered a one-year contract extension for the player whose deal was set to expire next summer.

But, according to reports on Friday, United have moved to secure Pogba's services until at least the end of next season by taking advantage of the extension clause in the World Cup winner's contract.

Last week while on worldwide duty, he said: "Many things have been said".

"It's true the manager chose to take me off in the Spurs match, but he told me it was because the game was over and we'd have a lot more to go for". "I have not spoken to [United executive vice-chairman] Ed Woodward". We haven't spoken about a new deal.

"I think there will be a moment when the club will come and talk to me and maybe offer me something, or not".

The France international's deal was set to end in June 2021 and Goal can confirm that the club utilised their option to extend it for a further year a few weeks ago, meaning he is under contract until the summer of 2022.

Real Madrid have been long-term admirers of Pogba, who is understood to be open to working with his countryman Zinedine Zidane.

"All football players would love to play for Real Madrid", he said.

'Manchester United are still considering as "impossible" that Pogba will leave the club as a free agent in the future, ?

The Daily Mail has revealed that Manchester United and four others from the Premier League are in the race to sign the £40m-rated David Brooks. I am playing in Manchester, I'm having fun and I want to do everything to put the club where it deserves. "I will give everything to the max, like my team-mates".
