Morgan told current judge Amanda Holden: "It's pretty obvious that the golden hour of Britain's Got Talent was when I was a judge with you and Simon (Cowell), when we got 20 million viewers for one final".

Throughout the show's run, Piers interviewed many guests, including politicians, celebrities and members of the public.

It's claimed that Piers Morgan could replace David Walliams on Britain's Got Talent as part of a shake up to the show.

After leaving Britain's Got Talent, Piers Morgan has suggested that he is ready to return to the reality show's judging panel. He was approached by two senior executives and said in turn he would do it if the conditions were right.

'He will give the show back its edge and provide those brilliant water cooler moments. He will revive the series.

However, Piers' Good Morning Britain contract is said to expire next year, meaning he would be free to film for the 2022 series.

His comments came after The Sun reported that the former newspaper editor could return to his seat on the TV talent show.

Earlier this year, Piers turned down a chance to stand in for Simon after he broke his back in an electric bike accident.

However, Piers refused to work alongside dad-of-one David and turned the work down, telling producers David was an "insufferable twerp".

A source said, "All shows need to be updated, and Piers will certainly do that".

The couple's long-standing feud, which began when David took over as judge for BGT, was rekindled earlier this year when Piers said he would not be in the National Television Awards because the ex-Little Britain star was hosting.

David also reportedly threatened to quit if the pair were on the same panel.

Speaking to The Mirror, he said, "There's no point in the same people winning the same awards every year".

'I'd rather stay at home and watch Groundhog Day and the host David Walliams makes my skin crawl'.

Piers was previously a judge on the show from its first series up until 2010 as well as appearing on American version.

The news comes after it was reported that David had clashed with his fellow BGT judges, in particular Alesha Dixon.
