LaMelo Ball signs deal with Puma; passes on Big Baller Brand

Although this news was first reported in August, the official announcement was made this past Wednesday.

The signing also marked Ball's exit from the Big Baller Brand - the brand founded and launched by his father, LaVar.

"LaMelo's physical gifts and dynamic play on the court, as well as his unique sense of personal style, make him a natural fit for Puma", said Adam Petrick, global director of brand and marketing at Puma.

Unlike basketball phenoms entering this fall's NBA draft after playing as amateurs at the NCAA level, Ball has already been a featured endorser for a company. Yahoo Sports' Krysten Peek has Ball going second overall to the Golden State Warriors in her most recent mock draft.

The 2020 NBA Draft is scheduled to take place on November 18. In particular, National Basketball Association champion Kyle Kuzma has a deal with Puma.

The ambassadorship will also include Puma and Ball working together on various programs to encourage youth to stay active through basketball skill camps, equipment and clothing donations, court refurbishments and more. Ball is the latest young player Puma hopes will grow its brand. However, the footwear and apparel company's short-lived fame didn't last long to which the very own Ball brothers sought to partner with other brands for their sneaker needs.

"The Big Baller Brand is BACK and better than ever!" I want to thank our loyal fans for patiently waiting for the relaunch and continuing to grow with our family!

Notably, LaMelo's older brother Lonzo, who now plays for the New Orleans Pelicans, also parted ways with the family-launched business in 2019 due to "some concerns of embezzlement from a longtime partner", CBS Sports reported. Lonzo had just spent the whole season wearing Nike shoes instead of his family's notoriously trashy item. In any event they actually have their $60 T-shirts.
