Assassin's Creed Valhalla won't require you to choose a male or female Eivor, as the game will automatically select a gender based on the mission.

In a series of promotional videos called "Unleash Your Inner Viking" published here on IGN, it was revealed in Chapter 2 that there are actually three choices for Eivor when starting the game: Female, Male, or "Let the Animus decide". However, if you change your mind, you can come back to these options at any time. This third option will pick the character who's memories are the strongest in the Animus' "memory stream".

Darby McDevitt later clarified the meaning of the UI text in a response to AccessTheAnimus, explaining that both characters will appear throughout the campaign depending on the strength of the memory, or mission. "So both are canon".

Finally, the Ubisoft Nordic Twitter accounts also offered up a couple of new screenshots of the game's interpretation of mythlogical locations Asgard and Jotunheim, continuing the thread of Assassin's Creed heroes exploring the myths and legends of their respective civilisations, which you can see below.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is expected to release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Epic, Ubisoft Store, Windows 10) on Tuesday the 10th of November; PlayStation 5 version to release on Thursday the 12th of November.
