It will be interesting to see just how much wrestling is involved in the series as it was obviously a big part of the family, but Johnson didn't start training to be one until his National Football League aspirations flamed out after college.

The series is being executive produced by Johnson, Nahnatchka Khan, Jeff Chiang, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Brian Gewirtz and Jennifer Carreras. Johnson remarked that this period of his life was filled with "incredible" highs, but the "lows were critical". He's got the hardest job of 'em of all playing "little Dewey" - yes, unfortunately that was the nickname my God parents gave me after the weather - as in dewdrops. "275lbs of upper body violence, attitude and clearly eating too much pizza", he said.

Ana Tuisila will play his grandmother Lia Maivia, who was pro wrestling's first women's promoter. She had to be tough as nails in a male dominated, shark infested world of wrestling.

First up is Stacey Leilua, who will portray the actor's mother, Ata.

Johnson was born in 1972 to Ata Johnson (née Maivia, whose father was also a wrestler) and professional wrestler Rocky Johnson, and was briefly raised in New Zealand where he played rugby. She's described as being "a sweet, loving grandmother" but also a "cutthroat, ruthless businesswoman".
