During the Tokyo Game Show 2020 Capcom broadcast, the developer team members behind Resident Evil Village announced that they are attempting to bring the upcoming title to the PS4 and Xbox One.

We get to see a video including development commentary.

The developer diary also features new gameplay footage.

Resident Evil Village is now in development for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

The eighth mainline Resident Evil game is set a few years after Resident Evil 7, and takes us on a first-person adventure through a monster-infested village, using returning hero Ethan. Just as they are building their new life together, tragedy befalls them once again. Chris Redfield, the famous character from the Resident Evil series, which made a brief appearance in Resident Evil 7 biohazard, is reacquainted with the couple and disrupts their life, leaving Ethan devastated and thrown into an entirely new nightmare.

They also detailed why there is a storybook segment in Resident Evil Village. This was because they wanted a way to deliver information to players that wouldn't be confusing, or overwhelming. "However, we will do our best in creating a top-tier survival horror experience on current generation consoles".

Resident Evil: Village is scheduled to release sometime in 2021 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with possible Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions in the offing.
