Launched in 1994 and 1995 respectively, Carnival Fascination and Carnival Imagination were put into long-term lay-up when the Covid-19 pandemic forced Carnival to halt operations.

The vessels feature additional balcony staterooms as well as enhanced dining and entertainment options that are part of the line's Fun Ship 2.0 enhancement program.

It's a huge blow for the United Kingdom cruise industry that will have a knock-on effect especially at the Port of Southampton.

They can also request a cash refund.

When Carnival Corporation announced earlier this week that it expects to dispose of 18 ships, eight of which have already left the fleet, it also said that the ships represent 12 percent of the company's pre-pause capacity, but only 3 percent of operating income in 2019.

So this means all Caribbean cruises are cancelled until the end of January 2021 and all cruises out of Southampton are cancelled through February 2021 along with Arcadia and Aurora sailings that were previously announced.

P&O Cruises have cancelled all their sailings for 2020 until 2021 due to the pandemic and the decision was taken due to the ever "evolving restrictions on travel" by the government.

In June, Cruise Lines International Association - a leading cruise industry trade association that accounts for major companies like Carnival, Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International, and Princess Cruises - announced that its members chose to continue the suspension of operations from USA ports until at least September 15.

Ludlow concluded on an optimistic note saying: "We can not wait for restrictions to ease, borders to open and for us to once again be able to set sail for a new beginning".

"As we continue to work through issues related to our eventual return to operations, we are committed to providing our guests and travel agent partners with certainty where we can, although we regret disappointing our guests", Carnival Cruise Line President Christina Duffy said in a press release, according to multiple outlets. Longer sailings and lucrative world cruises remain on hold.
