It looks to be a piece of light-hearted escapism that inadvertantly has its finger on the pulse of our current predicament in which everyday life has been interrupted by a foreign and deadly organism.

Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for its newest post-apocalyptic film Love and Monsters, written by Brian Duffield and Matthew Robinson, which follows Dylan O'Brien's character, Joel, seven years after the monsterpocalypse. Young survivor Joel Dawson (Maze Runner's Dylan O'Brien) lost his family in the attack and was separated from his girlfriend Aimee (Iron Fist's Jessica Henwick).

The movie also stars Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad's Michael Rooker alongside Avengers: Infinity War actress Ariana Greenblatt (she played the young Gamora). The film is directed by Michael Matthews and produced by Shawn Levy.

Love and Monsters gets released October 16 through VOD and is directed by Michael Matthews, with a story by Brian Duffield, and a screenplay by Matthew Robinson, with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen (Stranger Things) producing the film; John Starke also serves as an executive producer. The movie will be available on Apple TV, Vudu, Amazon Prime Video, FandangoNow, Google Play, and Xfinity, among others, next month, and we'll hopefully have more to share on this one soon. The rental option (lasting for a period of 48 hours) is $19.99, while the permanent purchase costs $24.99.
