Kim Kardashian & Chrissy Teigen Respond To Backlash Over Skims Maternity Shapewear

She pointed that if one wants to wear it, they can.

Kardashian, 39, announced the maternity line would hit her website this week. She recently took to Twitter to defend Kim Kardashian's new SKIMS launch for maternity wear.

The British actress was an easy target, though.

However, the new addition to Kardashian West's SKIMS brand was met with mixed reactions, with some people accusing Kardashian of implying that pregnant women need to be concerned about the appearance of their bodies. She took to Twitter to write, "It would be so cool if pregnant people could just be allowed to be pregnant and get bigger and not be self conscious, and enjoy the miracle taking place inside their body and not have to worry about feeling embarrassed/shamed that their body is changing for an fantastic reason".

"Just wanting to show you and maybe talk a little bit about what pregnancy shapewear is". And each to their own.

"Trust me, we are not idiots, we don't think we are giving you some magical hot body now, ok?" Here's what you need to know.

"You don't need your shape corrected or hidden". If I ever have a baby I'm welcoming the stretch marks, the new curves and I'm sure as shit not gonna rush to try and snap back, I'm just gonna let my body heal from the Massive event that has occurred inside my body. "It is also worn after you have given birth and provides the comfort and support that most women need after delivery especially if you are recovering from a cesarean". "Basically, the reason I love pregnancy shapewear is because it stops all the folds of my vagina and stomach from eating all other times of underwear".

Kardashian's response to the hubbub addressed those who "may not know the struggle" of carrying pregnancy weight. But from the discourse online I will say: "I wish we could just Normalize just focusing on the inside of a pregnant body, not the outside", Jamil, 34, wrote in an Instagram on Sunday.

"It is also worn after you have given birth and provides the comfort and support that most women need after delivery especially if you are recovering from a cesarean", she went on, later referencing her own hard pregnancies with daughter North, 7, and son Saint, 4.

On Saturday, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star shared a photo of pregnant models wearing various styles of her new maternity "solutionwear" on Instagram, explaining that the line will be released in nine colours on 16 September.

On her Instagram Stories Kim says: "If only there were cute bras that were holding you up and snatching you and making you feel better about yourself while you can breastfeed, that would have been everything to me".

The statement was signed by Kim and her siblings, Kourtney, Rob, and Khloe Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, her mom, Kris Jenner, and Scott Disick.

Jamil grew annoyed and "bored" of being dragged into the manufactured drama.

As with all things Kardashian, critics were quick to chime in, including Jameela Jamil, who has often made commentary about the Kardashian family and body image.

I'll add the backlash against this collection to the growing list of ways society tries to ignore what pregnancy is really like! "Being pressured to a slimmer figure", another user sarcastically said.
