Barcelona see the possibility of signing Lautaro vanish

Lautaro Martinez's representatives have poured cold water on reports their client could join Real Madrid or Barcelona by stating he will remain at Inter.

Italian media outlet FcInterNews report that there have been no contacts between the clubs about a transfer concerning Lautaro Martinez, adding that his agents are to meet with Inter to discuss a contract extension over the next few days.

But their desire for his signature has intensified after their first trophy-less season in 12 years.

Koeman has been appointed his successor and he is looking to find a new striker to play alongside Lionel Messi, who he has fought hard to keep at the Nou Camp.

Inter have made it clear that Martinez, 23, will not be allowed to leave for less than his £102million release clause.

However, Real have reportedly hijacked the deal and struck a sneaky agreement with their Serie A counterparts.

Barcelona haven't completely given up, but they accept that the deal is now extremely complicated.

Real are apparently willing to offer Luka Jovic on loan as a sweetener.

Vice president Javier Zanetti told Fox Sports: "Lautaro isn't leaving Inter".

Martinez scored 21 times in 49 appearances last season and helped Antonio Conte's side reach the Europa League final, where they were beaten in a thriller by Sevilla.

Lautaro is closer to joining Barcelona. For now, he's not leaving. There's respect on the clubs' part.

"It was just a courtesy visit, that's all", he told reporters.
