Motorola Razr 5G Launch Expected at Company's September 9 Event

The original Moto Razr was launched earlier this year.

While other handset makers like Samsung and Huawei set out to create smartphone/tablet hybrids using foldable displays, Motorola made a decision to do something different by reinventing the flip phone.

While Motorola is a company that nearly always has a bunch of different devices in the pipeline, the tagline of its upcoming September 9 event is more than enough to confirm the identity of the announcement ceremony's protagonist. The tech website DroidLife, reports that it has a description that says "getting ready to flip the smartphone experience once again". While we have no idea if the company will succeed in its hard task to provide stiff and reliable competition for Samsung's 5G-enabled Galaxy Z Flip variant, it might not be very long before we'll find out just how much better the Razr 2 5G is compared to its forerunner.

In the teaser you can see above the graphic seems to show a tumbling smartphone which according to some appears to be a foldable smartphone closing - I cannot see that but it fits with all of the other clues. Again, this isn't a confirmed official sighting of the Motorola Razr; the clip ends with a "save the date" message for the event. It would seem a odd decision for Motorola to once again go with a single lens system but there it is... Besides a few subtle design tweaks to the first-gen Razr, we could also be seeing 5G support, an upgraded Snapdragon 765G, and a larger (but still tiny) 2,845mAh battery on the Motorola Razr 5G. That $1500 price was just too high for the Moto Razr.

Whatever the case flip phones could be the way of the future to allow bigger displays to be used without increasing the size that needs to fit in your pocket. Once they do, we will make sure to inform you.
