Dallas did just that Wednesday night when it added veteran edge rusher Everson Griffen on a one-year, $6 million deal, according to the NFL Network.

Griffen is a four-time Pro Bowler and notched eight sacks in 15 games previous year.

The Cowboys lost last year's sack leader at the start of free agency when Robert Quinn, who had 11.5 sacks in 2019, signed with the Chicago Bears. That includes just two playoff wins, six coaches and countless controversies from the demise of the dynasty teams of the 1990s through the rollercoaster years of the Tony Romo era until Jason Garrett's process Cowboys. In March he cut off contract talks, but had since not signed with anyone.

Griffen has spent all 10 years of his career in Minnesota.

Griffen is fourth in Minnesota Viking history in sacks with 74.5, behind John Randle, Chris Doleman and Jared Allen. And the Cowboys have some familiarity with him as senior defensive assistant George Edwards is the former Vikings defensive coordinator.

The 32-year-old is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he played 15 games and registered 41 tackles, eight sacks and an interception en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.
