Messi unstoppable as Barca beats Napoli to reach CL last 8

Barca secured relatively comfortable passage to the quarter finals after a 4-2 aggregate victory but Messi was rather salty at the end of the game.

Messi was adamant that the ball didn't touch his arm as he put it in the net and maintained a lengthy conversation with Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir as VAR looked at it.

At the full time whistle, Messi and Cakir shared another moment and it was captured by the cameras. "Luckily Argentina scored late and advanced anyway, but Messi doesn't forget!" wrote one angry fan on Twitter.

His performance against Messi, a five-time Ballon d'Or victor, has got fans talking and they think his reported €80 million asking price should be slashed.

Like hundreds before him, Koulibaly struggled with the speed and movement of Lionel Messi, who drew a freakish foul from the big defender to win a penalty which Luis Suarez converted.

Critics have installed the Bavarians as favourites, pointing out that Napoli dominated the second half, only for poor finishing to cost them as they failed to add to Lorenzo Insigne's penalty.

The second half ended goalless despite Napoli pressing and spurning chances through Insigne and seeing substitute Arkadiusz Milik have a finish ruled out for offside in the closing stages.

Messi and Barcelona have been paired with free-scoring Bayern Munich in a mouthwatering quarter final next Friday, with the Blaugrana skipper said to be fine for the fixture despite picking up a knock against Napoli. Bayern romped into the last eight with a 4-1 rout of Chelsea on Saturday, going through 7-1 on aggregate, but Setien is not overawed by their next opponents.

Barcelona will head into the game in Lisbon as underdogs, but will hope that as long as they have Messi, they will have a chance.
