A number of social media users have posted their complaints about the COVID Tracker App seemingly draining their phone battery.

In separate statements, the HSE and Nearform - the Irish app's development firm - have said that the issue is set to be fixed imminently. Google and Apple are the main architects of the underlying technology behind the Covid Tracker app.

Since its launch, the COVID Tracker App has been downloaded by over 1.5 million users.
