Highlanders recall Jona Nareki to face Crusaders

The Crusaders have celebrated their Super Rugby Aotearoa title with a spine-chilling haka after beating the Highlanders on Sunday.

Not many have given the Highlanders much of a chance of doing the Blues and Hurricanes a favour in dispatching the Crusaders in Christchurch this weekend.

Meanwhile, Sevu Reece and George Bower have been named in the 23 member team for the Crusaders.

Playing in front of a packed house at Orangetheory Stadium, the hosts were understandably paying small money to bag the victory, but the Highlanders sent an early warning of intent.

The Crusaders ran out 32-22 winners after trailing for the three-quarters of the match.

It was a period the Highlanders could not come back from, particularly as Sio Tomkinson was perhaps harshly yellow carded after an off-ball collision with Oli Jager.

Two penalties Mo'unga cut the lead down by six points at half-time, but the Crusaders could have taken the lead early in the second half were it not for some defensive magic by Josh McKay. Michael Collins scored for the Highlanders in the 53 minute, but from there on it was all the home side.

But at that point Bridge scored his double, before Brayden Ennor hit a nice ball from Mo'unga to put it beyond reach with five minutes to play.
