Chelsea might just pull out of the race to sign Leicester City's Ben Chilwell as they now want to make a move for Real Madrid's Sergio Reguilon, as per reports.

Sergio Reguilon was sent out on loan to Sevilla during the 2019-20 season and he has been outstanding for the La Liga side scoring two goals and providing four assists.

The Toffees are said to be the favourites to land Reguilon after placing an £18million bid for the defender over the weekend while, according to Marca, Chelsea will first look to sign him on a season-long loan.

The Foxes are demanding £80m for the England global - who is under contract until 2024 - so Reguilon could be seen as a more feasible alternative for Frank Lampard.

This price is insanely high and Chelsea might not be able to pay this amount since they have already spent hefty amounts on Ziyech and Werner while Kai Havertz is also on his way.

Discussions are ongoing between Chelsea and Real Madrid as to whether the deal for the Spaniard would be a loan move or a purchase for a fee of around €25 million.

The Blues landed the Croatia worldwide on loan from the Spanish global on loan in 2018 before going on to sign him permanently for £40m.

Despite the lack of new talent, Frank Lampard had a decent 2019/20 season with his young squad, although the end to their interrupted campaign wasn't ideal.

A player who idolises Roberto Carlos and was asked whether he could be the new Marcelo (AS) after ousting him from the Real line-up past year, he now finds himself potentially on the lookout for a new club.

He has emerged as one of the best full-backs in La Liga this year, becoming an undisputed starter under former Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui, and helping the team finish in the Champions League places.
