"Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy birthday!" read the message alongside the photograph.

The Queen of Britain wished her granddaughter-in-law Meghan "a very happy birthday" on social media this morning. The birthday message was nearly identical to Kate and William's, reading, "Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy birthday!"

The Queen and the Duchess of Sussex's visit to Chester, in northwest England, was their first royal engagement together. For Meghan's 38th birthday previous year, the Duke shared a photo of his wife wearing a blue Veronica Beard dress during their royal visit to Tonga in 2018, on their now-inactive Sussex Royal Instagram account.

Prince Charles, and Prince William and Kate also posted birthday messages.

According to The Sun, Meghan Markle is celebrating her 39th birthday in Los Angeles, where the couple moved after spending some time in Canada. A balloon emoji is included at the end.

Although Meghan will be celebrating her birthday in LA alongside Prince Harry and baby Archie, it seems the royal family will always be rooting for the couple from the sidelines.

Due to coronavirus restrictions, it isn't known if they were able to share the occasion with Meghan's mum Doria Ragland who lives nearby. Again, they kept the message simple, posting, "Happy Birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!"

Harry and Meghan have been accused of cooperating with the authors of the book Carolyn Durrand and Omid Scobie.
