Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Ferran Torres from Valencia.

Stats Perform News understands the Spain Under-21 worldwide will cost City £21.1million (A$38m), plus further add-ons.

Txiki Begiristain, the City director of football, moved quickly to tie up a deal for Torres after Leroy Sane left for Bayern Munich in a £55m deal last month.

"I am so happy to be joining City", Torres told the club website.

The winger is City's first signing this summer.

The 20-year-old made 44 appearances for the LaLiga side last term, scoring six goals, and joins Pep Guardiola's squad in a £37million deal.

The Spaniard joins on the back of picking up his first major honor this season, after playing a key role in Valencia's Copa Del Rey triumph this campaign.

"All players want to play for attacking teams, and Manchester City are one of the most attacking in the world".

Torres, who in November became Valencia's youngest player to make 50 LaLiga appearances, has been a long-time target for City.

"Pep [Guardiola] is looking for an open and aggressive style, which is something I love".

Man City are expected to be busy as they look to regain supremacy in the Premier League from Liverpool.

The summer transfer window will run for 10 weeks from July 27 and close at 11pm on October 5.

"We have followed Ferran's progress closely and have been very impressed".
