The first three performers have been announced for the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards! On Tuesday, August 4, VMA's official Twitter page confirmed that the much-loved Korean boy band BTS will not only perform at the ceremony this year but will also perform their new single Dynamite for the first time at the award show.

Last year, the South Korean boy band (RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook) made VMAs history as the victor of a new best K-pop category for their single "Boy With Luv".

BTS scored three nominations this year at the VMAs in the Best Choreography, Best Pop and Best K-Pop categories.

Joining BTS is J Balvin and "Say So" singer Doja Cat. The talented artist is nominated three times in the Best Latin category for his work on songs China and Amarillo as well as Qué Pena. Additional sets will be revealed shortly.

Leading this year's nominations are Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, each scoring nine recognitions respectively.

The VMAs will air live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on August 30, and will be following new safety guidelines in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. As previously announced by MTV, the 37th annual event will feature "performances from various iconic locations across the city throughout all five boroughs to honor the spirit and resilience of NY".

Fans will be able to vote for VMA winners across 15 gender-neutral categories until August 23. The "stage", as the promo below boasts, will be throughout the city, due to pandemic conditions mandating an audience-free event that frees the show from being tied to a fixed location.

The 2020 MTV VMAs, which will air August 30 on MTV, are exec produced by Bruce Gillmer and Jesse Ignjatovic. Alicia Portugal and Jackie Barba serve as executives in charge of production.
