The new State of Play will focus on PS4 and PSVR games, as well as a few updates on previously-confirmed third-party PS5 games.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog this morning, Sony detailed which PlayStation 4 controllers and accessories will work with the PlayStation 5.

Headsets will work, but the companion app isn't compatible with PS5.

The company has provided fans an overview of what now released PS4 accessories will work on the PlayStation 5.

SIE stated that specialty peripherals (racing wheels, flight sticks, arcade sticks) will work with PS5 and "supported PS4 games". The PlayStation Camera, PS Move Motion Controllers, and PlayStation VR Aim Controller are also supported.

PS4 DualShock 4 controllers will connect to the PS5, and owners will be able to use them for backwards compatible PS4 titles.

Please note, not all PlayStation officially licensed or third-party peripherals/accessories may work on PS5. This is to ensure that they "take advantage of the new capabilities and features we're bringing to the platform, including the features of DualSense wireless controller".

Matters of backward compatibility are important for the gaming community, and luckily, the PlayStation 5 appears to have that base covered. The PlayStation Camera for PS4 is compatible with PS5 but will require an adapter which PS VR users can get their hands on for free at a later date. More details on how this will be delivered will be provided at a later time.
