The head of Russia's sovereign wealth fund that is financing vaccine research, Kiril Dmitriyev, has called it "a Sputnik moment", in reference to the successful launch by the Soviet Union in 1957 of the world's first satellite.

If the vaccine proves safe and effective, Johnson & Johnson hopes to supply more than one billion doses globally throughout 2021.

Clinical testing of vaccines includes three phases.

As every country is trying to find the cure or coronavirus vaccine around the world.

Tests have shown that the vaccine promotes the creation of protective antibodies.

A group of scientists led by Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) immunologist Dan H. Barouch is developing a single-shot vaccine for COVID-19.

The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson also joins the vaccine race as it has kicked off its safety trials for its coronavirus vaccine after promising results from its monkey study.

Pending clinical trial outcomes, the Ad26.COV2.S vaccine is on track to start a phase 3 efficacy trial in 30,000 participants in September. They note that guidance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommends that people with such preexisting conditions be included in the COVID-19 vaccine trials.

The panel had also recommended that the clinical trial sites which have been proposed for the study be distributed across India. Only about half of Americans said in May that they were willing to get a coronavirus vaccine.

In testimony before the U.S. Congress on July 31, Anthony Fauci, the United States' top infectious-diseases official, expressed concern about reported COVID-19 vaccines being developed in Russian Federation and China.

Meanwhile, Russia is now developing a candidate vaccine.

"One can say that maybe in the next 6 months, hope can start to be touched with our fingertips, until a time, as usual, when the vaccine will be approved by the World Health Organization and we will start getting it as we always get other vaccines when they are found", he said.

"Claims of having a vaccine ready to distribute before you do testing, I think, is problematic, at best", Fauci said.

Initial results of the first two-phases of trials of the vaccine conducted in five trial sites in the United Kingdom showed that it has an acceptable safety profile and homologous boosting increased antibody response, sources had said.

"We are going very quickly".
