There has been a lot of conversation about Britney Spears and conservatorship that she has been under since 2007.

Britney Spears' dad Jamie Spears recently slammed the #FreeBritney movement and called the campaign a "joke".

Conservatorship is a legal concept in the United States where a guardian or a protector is appointed by a judge to manage the financial affairs and/or daily life of another due to physical or mental limitations, or old age.

Spears herself has only spoken about the conservatorship publicly once, in 2008. She had famously shaved her head and attacked a paparazzo's vehicle with an umbrella in 2007 before receiving treatment at various rehab facilities. "It's as much as the court docket of California to determine what's finest for my daughter. It's no one else's business".

He also addressed the claims of taking Britney Spears' estate money and said, "I have to report every nickel and dime spent to the court every year. How the hell would I steal something", he said.

Jamie also claimed that the #FreeBritney movement has resulted in people "being stalked and targeted with death threats", before adding, "It's disgusting. It's frightful. We don't want those kinds of fans".

"I really like my daughter". However, he made it clear that fans should no poke or prude in places they have no right to because "I love all my kids". But this is our business.

However, the online movement is gaining more supporters with each passing day.

"Her father doesn't allow her to drive, all of her calls & messages are monitored, she's not allowed to vote, hang with anyone, or spend her money without permission. And if she breaks a "rule" he threatens to have her kids taken away!"

The fans have been calling for her conservatorship to be ended on social media and have set up a petition as the conservatorship is set to be reviewed at the end of August. Her team has kept her quiet for years and it's now time for Britney to speak! According to the publication, the pop star's father described the call to #FreeBritney as "a joke". "She's a human being, not a show pony".

The exact terms of the conservatorship aren't known, but reportedly the terms under the Britney Spears conservatorship state she can not do the following without gaining permission from her father: Drive, vote, get married, have children, spend her own money, see how her money has been spent, see her children, leave her home, hire a lawyer, control her own career, speak publicly about the conservatorship, do interviews which aren't scripted or have been approved by her father, use her phone or social media unmonitored, contact anyone unmonitored, go shopping or go for a walk.

Meanwhile, other fans on TikTok have combed through Britney Spears' posts looking for and linking what they believe to be clues or hints from the singer. The cryptic post reads: "I get how some people might not like my posts or even understand them, but this is Me being happy".

"I really like my daughter", he continued whereas getting emotional.
