The viral video from April of Vittoria Oliveri and Carola Pessina playing socially distanced tennis across two rooftops in Finale Ligure, Italy, can feel like a lifetime ago.

The moment was awesome - they took selfies, they chatted. and then they played rooftop tennis!

In a video for Barilla pasta, the 20-time major champion paid the girls, 13 and 11 years old, a surprise visit, and their reaction was exactly what you might expect.

38-year-old Federer was moved by the young girls' commitment to tennis and fitness during the Covid-19 lockdown. "To surprise a fan, or children, like I was able to with Carola and Vittoria today", Federer said.

Now, this video went viral in April and it took a while but Roger Federer chose to join the girls for another rooftop match in July. But this is definitely up there for me as a special experience.

Several show players hitting balls against walls in the street or in parking lots or even in their bedroom or the family living room, with the wide-screen television positioned ominously close to the apex of the forehand swing. "I had the best time, honestly", Federer added.

Fast forward to July. the girls were told they were going to be interviewed by the news media about their viral moment - not knowing Roger Federer was secretly waiting behind the scenes! At the end of the video, Federer also revealed that he had another surprise for the girls.
