Fulham advanced to the play-off final with 3-2 win on aggregate against Cardiff City at Craven Cottage.

Curtis Nelson put Cardiff City ahead after just eight minutes of play before Neesken Kebano leveled the scores for Fulham immediately after 24 seconds.

Lee Tomlin made it 2-1 to Cardiff just two minutes after the restart, but that would be the end of their efforts in making a return to the top-flight since the 2018-19 season when they finished 18th, two points shy of safety.

Will Vaulks nearly forced extra-time after a goalmouth scramble but Fulham goalkeeper Marek Rodak tipped his shot over the bar.

They will now face local rivals Brentford at Wembley, for a place in the Premier League.

Cardiff keeper Alex Smithies kept his team in the game on several occasions with a string of superb saves, including tipping an Aboubakar Kamara shot onto the post in the 68th minute.

"It wasn't pretty at all", Fulham captain Tom Cairney told Sky Sports.

"I think we let ourselves down a little bit by not playing our normal game, and we invited pressure".

At the restart of the second half, Will Vaulks' long throw caused problems for Fulham again, with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing towering to power a header at Marek Rodak.

Brentford are looking to earn a spot in the top division for the first time in 73 years.
