Paris St Germain completed a domestic treble with a penalty shootout victory over Lyon in the final of the last edition of the Coupe de la Ligue.

It was the final French League Cup final, with the decision made last September to cancel the tournament after this season, and ended 0-0.

After a goalless stalemate in normal and extra time, the final had to be decided by a shootout, which saw Lyon's Bertrand Traore miss following 10 flawless penalties, leaving Pablo Sarabia to clinch a shootout win.

The LFP had failed to secure a broadcaster for the 2020-2024 period but reserved the right to relaunch the competition in the future.

PSG went close first through Neymar and were the better side in the first half without being at their best, with Neymar sending a shot wide and Anthony Lopes being called upon to deny Idrissa Gueye and Angel Di Maria.

The Brazilian held his nerve to keep PSG alive in the shootout before Navas blocked Traore's penalty and Sarabia calmly slotted his shot past Lopes to spark wild celebrations among his team mates.

It was only the second domestic game in France since Ligue 1 was curtailed in April - with PSG beating Saint-Etienne 1-0 last Friday in the French Cup final.

Lyon are now facing a first season without European football since 1996-97, unless they win this season's Champions League.
