Basketball: NBA Knicks make Thibodeau hiring as new coach

He is the most accomplished coach the Knicks have hired since Mike D'Antoni, and that actually turned out alright (before it turned out poorly).

Woodson is expected to join the Knicks in some capacity, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Tom Thibodeau was named coach of the NBA's New York Knicks on Thursday (July 30), taking on the task of reviving one of the league's sickliest franchises.

Woodson, who is now an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Clippers, coached the Knicks from 2012 to 2014, going 109-79 (.580) with two playoff appearances.

The Knicks have struggled through six consecutive losing seasons, have managed only one playoff series win since 2000 and have not won the National Basketball Association title since 1973. If there are criticisms of Thibodeau - and there are - none are that he is not a good basketball coach. Emailed daily. Always free!
