Atletico can't give Partey a new deal right now, but believe he is happy and will offer him new terms once their finances improve.

Partey has scored three goals in 35 games in the Spanish top flight this season to help Atletico finish in third spot in the La Liga standings.

The Spaniard is also an admirer of the Ghana worldwide, however, and would be happy to see him arrive this summer as he attempts to build a squad capable of competing for the top four next season. The Ghanaian player still has two years on his current contract.

Arsenal first registered their interest in the 27-year-old midfielder in spring but so far an attempt to reduce Thomas Partey's fee have met a dead end despite the player being reluctant to sign a new contract with the Rojiblancos.

However, the Ghana global has a £44m release clause in his current Atletico contract.

The Spanish side, Atletico Madrid have rejected an offer from English Premier League side, Arsenal to sign Thomas Partey after the North London side offered Matteo Guendouzi plus £22.5million in a swap deal for the Ghanaian global.

Some believed that Arsenal would then back away from the Ghanaian, but Atletico still think that the pursuit will continue over the coming weeks.

Therefore, the Gunners will not be able to afford Partey's release clause.

Should a deal ultimately prove impossible, however, Arsenal could turn to Pereira as a potential alternative.

The report goes on to add that Mikel Arteta will be forced to sell some of the fringe members of his Arsenal squad in order to raise the funds to sign Partey this summer. "I always dreamed about playing in that league".
