In 2004, Lionsgate has released a prequel called "Dirty dancing 2: Havana nights". The lake in Pembroke, Va., where Patrick Swayze lifted Jennifer Grey into the air dried up after the movie came out.

Dirty Dancing featured Patrick Swayze as Grey's dance instructor and romantic interest, along with Jerry Orbach and Kelly Bishop as Grey's parents. Twelve years after the water receded, recent news reports show that Mountain Lake is suddenly filled again. and we owe it all to geological anomalies.

Mountain Lake began losing water in 1999 and was empty by 2008, reported The Roanoke Times.

According to scientists, this phenomenon of draining and filling the lake makes Mountain Lake unique.

Researchers have reportedly determined that Mountain Lake reaches its lowest point roughly every 400 years.

On Tuesday, editors at Deadline announced that Grey is teaming up with studio bosses at Lionsgate to star in and executive produce a new dance movie, and the news has led to speculation that a sequel could be in the works.

Originally set in 1963, the flick is now 33 years old, and would place Frances "Baby" Houseman as a 50 year old woman, living in 1996.

The Virginia resort of Mountain Lake is also home to other iconic "Dirty Dancing" sites, including the gazebo that hosted dance lessons and the the cabin where Baby's family resided.

Fans will have to wait to see if the lake will fully fill, but Stone said that even without the lake, there are other activities at the lodge to enjoy, such as a "Dirty Dancing" theme weekend package that includes a treasure hunt, trivia, and obviously a dance party.
