Kelly Preston dead: John Travolta's wife dies aged 57

The actress, who went to school in Adelaide, had been battling breast cancer for two years, with a family representative confirming news of her passing to People today.

John Travolta's wife Kelly Preston has died of breast cancer aged 57.

Kelly, meanwhile, shared a touching message for her husband, writing: "To my dearest Johnny, the most wonderful man I know".

Travolta added: 'Kelly's love and life will always be remembered.

'She was a bright, attractive and loving soul who cared deeply about others and who brought life to everything she touched. You have given me hope when I have felt lost, loved me patiently and unconditionally... made me laugh harder than any other human being possible... shared the most attractive highs and at times low.

Born Kelly Kamalelehua Smith in Honolulu, she changed her name to Kelly Preston before securing her first film role in the 1985 romcom "Mischief", then appeared in another teen comedy, "Secret Admirer".
