Dunzo has assured users that no financial information has been compromised in the data breach. While the company hasn't shared the extent of the attack, it has however confirmed that hackers got hold of a database that contained the phone numbers and email addresses of its users.

The report notes that Dunzo has launched an internal investigation following the security breach. The startup has secured all its databases from network and access stand points.

Up until now, the investigation suggests that the unauthorised access to Dunzo's database could have followed a breach in the servers of a third party that it does business with. However, security firms have still been warning about new attacks that try to take advantage of the pandemic, by spreading fake emails to users and trying to compromise their devices.

The company said it has taken "swift action" to plug the security gap and added additional layers of security protocols to ensure that user data is safeguarded.

Dunzo updated passwords, tightened infrastructure security, and closed all the vulnerable ports, Jha noted in his post.

Dunzo, however, did not reveal the number of accounts exposed or the third-party partner whose server whose was affected. We are committed to earning that trust from you, every single day on every single order.

"We believe that all necessary steps have been taken to resolve the security breach and will keep you updated if we know more", he added.
