Spotify's support Twitter account states that the company is investigating the issue. "Still having issues? Give @SpotifyCares a tweet".

"We are aware and investigating an increase in errors on the iOS SDK which is causing some apps to crash", they said.

The issues stem from Facebook's iOS software developer kit (SDK) embedded in some of these apps. More than 12,000 issues were reported with Spotify, while 2,333 reports were filed by Pinterest users.

Facebook has said in a post online that they are now investigating these issues.

Independent outage monitor Down Detector has today seen a massive spike in Spotify down reports, with thousands of reported problems recorded.

It seems that the app is facing problems only on iOS and is running fine for Android users.

Mass outages have been reported with the popular music streaming service while iPhone users are also complaining about Facebook, Tik Tok and Pinterest not working.

One work around for users is switching their iPhones to Airplane mode and turning off their wifi.

And another wrote: "Updated, deleted and installed, turned my phone off only to find out spotify is not working for everyone #SpotifyDown".

DownDetector has received over 1,300 reports about the Spotify application today.

An app developer consulted by Business Insider confirmed that Facebook was probably the cause of the issues.

The @SpotifyStatus Twitter posted: "Something's out of tune". We're now investigating, and we'll keep you posted here!'

However we wouldn't have you go without hit music!

Popular music streaming service Spotify appears to be down for many people across the USA and Europe.
