Have pubs closed because of coronavirus?

The pub said it was "slowly" working through a list of customers who had left their details behind at the weekend, and confirmed that all staff had tested negative. The Fox and Hounds said staff had taken tests and the venue would be deep-cleaned prior to reopening. The Fox and Hounds in Batley, West Yorkshire, said a customer had called to say they had tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statement it added: "The pub will be fully deep cleaned and when safe to do so we will reopen our doors".

A small number of pubs that reopened on Saturday were forced to close early due to the unruly behaviour of guests, however health secretary Matt Hancock said the "vast majority of people are doing the right thing". All three of the sites in question had previously posted on social media about introducing new social distancing and health and safety measures in line with government guidelines.

"It's important to note that if you've been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, you are not showing any symptoms and take a test which then has a negative result, you still need to self-isolate for 14 days, just to be sure".

Landlord Robby Roberts said: "A member of staff, one of my barmaids, has someone in her family bubble who has tested positive".

The post read in part: "This morning I got a phone call off a customer which visited our pub on Saturday to say they'd tested positive for coronavirus".

"All five staff who were on shift on Saturday have now been tested and we are waiting for the results".

Three pubs have announced their temporary closures on Facebook. The pub is being deep cleaned and I have contacted the council.

Crowds were seen across England on "Super Saturday", as thousands flocked to enjoy a pint.

"From what I've seen, although there's some pictures to the contrary, very, very largely people have acted responsibly", he told Sky's Ridge On Sunday.

United Kingdom pub and hospitality trade unions have published guidance for bars and restaurants on how to effectively operator contact tracing.

Contact details only need to be taken from one person in a group and must be kept for 21 days.

At least 100 customers that had been at the restaurant were also notified they should get tested.

People can refuse to give the information, but landlords and workers can choose not to serve you if you do not comply.
