The 32-year-old signed a short-term deal to tie him over until the end of this extended campaign but it was always the intention for him to leave this summer.

"Adam is, oh my God... it's clear that Adam will leave the club", Klopp said in his press conference ahead of Liverpool's Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Arsenal, Leicester, Bournemouth and Tottenham are believed to be all interested in signing the player and Klopp is not ready to jeopardize a potential move by asking him to play in his side's remaining five games.

However, German Klopp, whose side are 23 points clear of second-placed City, insisted that his long-term vision is to have a club filled with local talent.

"I miss already everything about him - and in this moment he is still here!" He is one of the most influential players on working out quality I've ever had in my own life. He's an incredible professional.

"But we now have a hard situation, but I'll respect Adam a lot". Everything with Adam is sorted - he's top fit, he's training, everything is fine. But yes, the long run is his future, and when we need his help on the pitch we can have it.

The Reds marked their first game at Anfield as Premier League champions with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday. That is the normal thing.

"There were a lot of discussions about players without contracts - with him there was not even a discussion", he added.

"But we will not put any risk on his future".

"I think the saying "fixing the plane while it's up in the air" is a good one, because it's the toughest league in the world. He is already a legend here, so he can become a legend somewhere else".

The likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Divock Origi could enjoy increased game time but, much like Lallana, Klopp is keen not to have such players overlooked when it comes to considering their role in a glorious period.

"I remember when we took this talented player from Southampton he lacked consistency".
