It's a pirate's life for Jude Law.

Jude Law is in talks to play the villainous Captain Hook in Peter Pan & Wendy, Disney's live-action update of its 1953 toon classic, Deadline has confirmed. Lowery also co-wrote the script with Toby Halbrooks. The film, which stars Ever Anderson as Wendy and Alexander Molony as Peter Pan, was among the shoots Disney paused on March 13 amid the coronavirus outbreak. The report also stated that the studio plans to release it in theatres instead of their streaming service.

"Peter Pan and Wendy" is expected to fall in line with Disney's recent string of live-action adaptations of their classic animated films, though the inclusion of Wendy's name in the title may suggest the story may be re-told with a new perspective and an increased role for her character. Isaacs' depiction in the fantastic 2003 Peter Pan, which to this day is the best adaptation of the tale, is probably closest to Barrie's vision: a faded glam rockstar with a tattoo and a sensual, bloodthirsty attitude. Many other studios have made their own versions on the big and small screens, including Steven Spielberg's "Hook" starring Robin Williams and Joe Wright's "Pan", both of which disappointed at the box office.

Disney have so far found huge success with their live-action remakes, with the likes of The Lion King and Aladdin bringing in billions for the studio, with a sequel and spin-off for the latter already on the cards.
