Pizzorno and Edwards are now the only remaining founding members, after drummer Ian Matthews was enlisted to the group in 2004. The band won the 2010 Brit Award for Best British Group and they even headlined the prestigious Glastonbury Festival in 2014.

Ms Ager and Meighan got engaged in 2017 following his split from long-term girlfriend Kim James - who moved out with their daughter Mimi Malone.

"Basically my life changed".

The Leicester band had been due to play a huge homecoming gig in their Victoria Park last month, with the pandemic leading to the show's eventual cancellation. "I'm by myself. Because I lost myself", he told Q Magazine. I had to sort my head out. My attitude. Stuff I was doing.

'I was the one that was bad, I was in the haze. I was making myself ill, I ain't gonna lie, my mind was jolted'. "I wasn't taking responsibility and it affected everyone around me, horrendous".

The band has released six albums since 2004, five of which reached number one in the UK.

"It was just an escape for Tom to go, 'This is my band and these tunes are exciting, '" said his bandmate Pizzorno.

Meighan had made comments in recent weeks about his plans for the future, which included both Kasabian and his own solo project, but it now appears that, after the schism with his band, he will be going it alone.

"We need a seventh baby", he told Sky News.

After the news of him leaving broke, Tom tweeted to say that he's doing well and in a "really good place".

The case came a day after Meighan quit the band, releasing a statement saying he was dealing with "personal issues". There is no indication on whether they will continue as a three-piece or hire a new frontman.
