Originally released on PC way back in 2006, Ys Origin would eventually make the jump to PS4, PS Vita, and Xbox One a little over a decade later, with additional content and options.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, you can find an official description below, also describing the editions that will be available.

Dotemu announced on Tuesday that it will release Nihon Falcom's Ys Origin game for the Nintendo Switch this year. While there's no doubt that the wait has been a long one, Ys Origin is a solid entry in the legendary franchise, and will no doubt feel right at home on the Switch platform, flawless for lengthy commutes and late-night adventuring. The Collector's Edition will bundle a soundtrack, artbook, and reversible poster.

Players in Europe can choose between either a standard or a collector's edition from an european partner.

There's a 1-2 punch of good news for Ys fans this morning.

Ys Origin joins aspiring knight Yunica Tovah and mage Hugo Fact, two fighters desperately searching for the Goddesses that have abandoned them. With tons of powerful loot to earn, distinct scenarios and playstyles between each character as well as secrets to unveil, Ys Origin is a deep, compelling RPG experience.
