The three-time National Award victor was not keeping well for some time.

The three-time National Award victor was admitted to hospital last Saturday after she complained of breathlessness. She tested negative for Covid-19. Meanwhile, the news of her passing away was confirmed by filmmaker Kunal Kohli on Twitter, her family later revealed details of dear Saroj's passing, saying, "She passed away due to cardiac arrest at around 2.30 am in the hospital". She has left behind her son, Hamid Khan and daughters, Hina Khan and Sukania Khan. She was laid to rest at a cemetery in the Malad area of Mumbai on Friday morning. In Sukaina's words, "But suddenly two to three days ago, she suddenly had a huge spike in her diabetes, which went up to 600-650 on the scale".

Director Kunal Kohli, who worked with the choreographer on Fanaa, remembered Khan as someone who stood up for people's rights.

In a career spanning forty years, she choreographed almost 2000 songs.

Coincidentally, Khan's last major assignment also happened to be with Madhuri, when previous year she choreographed the actress's moves for the song "Tabah ho gaye" in the film, "Kalank".

In the years thereafter, she turned Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit, two of Bollywood's biggest stars, into India's dancing queens. Saroj Khan had worked incredibly hard to achieve her position, given the patriarchy in the film industry and the times she lived in.

"She made dance look easy nearly like anybody can dance, a huge loss for the industry", tweeted superstar Akshay Kumar. They got married when she was 13 and he was 41. She dedicated it to late Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan. "I hope and pray more choreographers bring the "Indianness" back to film songs but Sarojji was the epitome of this, be it 'Dola Re Dola' or 'Nimbooda'". She was very lenient but at the same time, wanted my etiquette to be ideal.

Her memorable associations with Dixit include "Tezaab", "Beta" and "Khalnaayak", while with Sridevi her best work includes Shekhar Kapur's "Mr. India", "Nagina" and "Chandni".

Kareena shared a throwback post from the sets of her movie "Jab We Met". It's quite fitting that her last song as choreographer was with Madhuri - Tabah ho gaye from last year's Kalank.
