Kairi Sane is leaving WWE

Dave Meltzer is reporting in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Kairi Sane is going to be returning to Japan to be with her husband. The move has been in the works for a while.

WWE has known about Sane returning to Japan since May. We also never know if Kairi Sane's mind is made up about the subject.

Prior to Sane being injured during a match with Nia Jax, WWE wanted to do a "career-ending injury angle" when it was time for her to leave to Japan. The plan was to set up an angle so that the person who ended her career would challenge Asuka for her title at SummerSlam. The career-ending injury angle may have changed since Paul Heyman was removed in place of Bruce Prichard. It was speculated that this likely changed since Paul Heyman's departure, and two unconfirmed names mentioned as the potential attacker were Charlotte Flair or Shayna Baszler, both now off of TV.

Meltzer noted that the talk with Sane has been (not recently, though) that once her WWE contract was up that she would wrestle one more year in Japan and then retire. She's been out of action since Nia Jax pushed her into the steel ring steps and busted her head open.

The 31 year old Sane was married to her longtime partner back in February of this year. She worked the Mae Young Classic in 2017, and won the tournament by defeating Baszler in the finals.

There are quite a few wrestlers on the WWE main roster, but it looks like at least one name has been written off TV.
