56 new cases, 1 death in Douglas County

The Ellsworth County Health Department on Friday reported five new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county, bringing the county total to nine.

Harris County had 1,249 new cases, by far the highest one-day total in the state. A female in her 50's and a male in his 60's have had contact with persons testing positive for COVID-19.

A third unrelated case is a Curry County resident who tested positive for Covid-19. Counties with more total cases as of Thursday are Berkeley, 443; Kanawha, 324; Jefferson, 229; Monongalia, 179; Randolph, 161; Jackson, 143; Cabell, 136; and Wayne, 114.

Cass County reported 18 while Grand Forks County had 7. They have had a total of 26 cases since their first infection.

"It is with great regret that we announce our second COVID-19 death". A male in his 30's has had no known contact with a COVID-19 case.

Globally, over 11 million people have been diagnosed with the disease and 525,790 have died due to complications from it.
