Yet another fan favorite video game series is making the transition to television.

A short teaser trailer for a TV adaptation of the Fallout game series has been released, heading to Amazon Prime Video as an Amazon Original. With the Fallout developer and publisher's involvement, they will ensure that it remains faithful to the game series even as Nolan and Joy push Fallout into a new realm of possibilities. According to THR, this means if Amazon top brass like the script, Fallout would get a series straight away and skip the traditional pilot phase.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonah Nolan are attached to oversee the potential TV series. "Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends", said Nolan and Joy in a joint statement.

Bethesda says it has been looking for ways to adapt Fallout to a movie or series for the last decade and that Nolan and Joy's vision for the series is the first that made them think it could be done right.

For more context, here's Bethesda's official synopsis for my favorite game in the series, Fallout 3: For 200 years, Vault 101 has faithfully served the surviving residents of the Capital Wasteland. As for the Fallout TV series, it's now unclear what the first season will focus on. "And Jonah and Lisa are the ideal storytellers to bring this series to life", said Cheng.

We'll bring you more on Amazon's plans for the Fallout universe's jump to TV as and when we learn them.

The Fallout franchise has posted record sales and has received dozens of Game of the Year Awards. A Halo series is also in the works at Showtime, and a feature based on Borderlands now has Cate Blanchett circling one of the lead roles. Let us know in the comment section below!

"Fallout is an iconic global franchise, with legions of fans worldwide and a rich, deeply compelling storyline that powers it".

The Fallout story is centred on a post-apocalyptic world caused by a seismic nuclear conflict between the U.S. and China circa alternate WWII.
