He didn't compete last week at the Travelers Championship in CT, and is now in self-isolation.

In a statement on the PGA Tour's official website, Frittelli said: "I am experiencing no issues and feel great physically and was surprised and disappointed to learn of the positive test today".

"I fully supported the tour's new rule of not allowing anyone on the tournament grounds until testing negative, as protecting others in the field and every affiliated with the tournament and the community should be the number one priority as a result of a positive test". "I look forward to getting back on tour once it's safe to do so".

The 30-year-old has two career wins on Tour, most recently at the 2013 OHL Classic at Mayakoba.

English has five top-10 finishes this season, the most recent a share of ninth at Bay Hill in March. He became the second player in as many days to test positive after the PGA toughened coronavirus safety measures.

English did not compete last week at the Travelers Championship while Champ tested positive at a pre-tournament screening.

When it comes to crowd favourites in golf, Phil Mickelson has always been up there as one of the most loved golfers to ever play on the PGA Tour, but that didn't stop golf fans around the world grilling him for his choice of pants for Sunday's final round at the Travelers Championship. Jay Monahan, the Tour's commissioner insisted last week that these positive tests remain within the expected ratio, but the concerns will inevitably grow.

The PGA Tour's return to play is being examined by all other sports leagues, including college football.

Harris English is now the fifth PGA Tour golfer to contract the coronavirus since play resumed.
